So lately it’s been very busy in my household (when isn’t it!) With my Isagenix business, blogging, going around household chores along with kids schedules I’m finding it hard to fit in time to get a workout. So this past week I started to look into places to workout, places close to home that lead me through a good workout and I found an awesome one. Have you ever heard of CrossFit?
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that combines weightlifting, sprinting, gymnastics, powerlifting, kettlebell training, plyometrics, rowing, and medicine ball training. CrossFit contends that a healthy, fit person requires proficiency in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. It defines fitness as increased work capacity across all these domains and says its program achieves this by provoking neurologic and hormonal adaptations across all metabolic pathways. – Excerpt taken from VSC website
I wasn’t totally new to CrossFit, I was introduced to the CrossFit style of training about a year ago and oh boy, I was put through an amazing and challenging workout that totally kicked my butt! At that time I was regularly working out and the impression of that workout stayed with me so I decided to check out if there were any CrossFit’s near me, surprise, surprise there is one – CrossFit Vaughan!!
The coaches at VSC – Jared & Jon are awesome. As soon as I walked in I felt welcome. Jon took me on a tour of the facility, introduced me to other members it really felt like a nice, easygoing community. Then Jon put me through a workout & I thought my first time was hard! Keep in mind I haven’t been working out or doing any strength conditioning for about a year, so Jon took me through the warm up and checked my form doing basic back squats and taught me how to do a front load squat (which I’ve never done) then put me through the WOD (workout of the day). I was supposed to do 5 rounds for time of 3 different exercises and I could only do 3 rounds!! I found it hard, challenging and awesome all at the same time. I worked up a great sweat and boy was I feeling the burn especially in my legs. So I made a decision, this is the place that I’m going to workout and this Monday I’m starting my 30 – Day challenge! It takes 21 days to make a habit and 21 days to break a habit – so they say – I want to get back into a regular workout schedule and I regularly do a cleanse every spring – after all that winter comfort food. So my challenge is to do a 30 Day Isagenix Program along with working out at CrossFit 3-4 times per week, and do hot yoga once a week. I want to transform my body to the way it was before I had kids. I’ll keep you posted on my results. If you’re interested in doing the challenge with me leave me a comment below, you don’t have to do CrossFit any strength and conditioning program will do.
Have a Happy Easter everyone!
